Something not replying? Start here.
Nearly every problem with an auto reply app comes down to one of five settings. Work down this list, and if none of it helps, email us.
Email us: support@martai.in — include your phone model and Android version, and we can usually answer in one reply.
It stopped replying after a day or two
This is Android killing the app in the background, and it is the single most common problem in this category. Open WhatAI and go to the Reliability screen — it scores your setup out of 100 and names the exact setting to change. Usually one of:
- Battery restriction. Set WhatAI to Unrestricted in Settings → Apps → WhatAI → Battery.
- Autostart. Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, Realme and OnePlus phones need WhatAI enabled in their own Autostart or Startup Manager list.
- Notification access was revoked. Some OEM cleaners turn it off. Re-grant it in Settings → Notifications → Notification access.
- Locked in Recents. On phones that support it, long-press WhatAI in the recent apps view and lock it so the task cleaner skips it.
It replies to some people but not others
Check these four, in this order:
- Audience. If it is set to “new chats only” or “only people I pick”, most senders will not get a reply. Set it to everyone to test.
- Groups. Group chats are a separate toggle and are off by default.
- Quiet hours. If the clock falls inside your quiet window, nothing is sent.
- Cooldown. After replying once in a chat, the app waits before it will reply in that same chat again — by design, so you never spam anyone.
It never replies to my verification codes
That is deliberate and cannot be switched off. Messages carrying one-time passwords, 2FA codes, passwords, PINs or card details are always skipped so the app can never send a code out to whoever asked for it.
The AI is not writing replies
- Daily allowance used up. The free tier includes 10 AI replies a day. Word-for-word rules keep working after that — they are unlimited.
- No API key. A cloud engine needs your own key from Google or Anthropic. Paste it in the engine settings.
- The model was not confident. When the AI is unsure, it deliberately stays silent and leaves the message for you rather than guessing.
- On-device model not installed. The offline engine needs its model file downloaded or imported once before it can run.
Replies do not sound like me
The AI copies what you give it. Add three or four real example replies in your own phrasing, and write a short note with the facts it should know — your hours, your address, your rates, a link. Short, specific examples change the tone far more than a long description does.
Will this get my WhatsApp banned?
WhatAI does not use a modified WhatsApp, an unofficial client, or any API workaround — it replies through Android’s own notification action, the same one you use from your lock screen. What does get numbers restricted is unsolicited bulk messaging, from any tool. Use it to answer people who message you first.
Requesting a feature or reporting a bug
Email support@martai.in. For a bug, the useful details are: your phone model, Android version, which engine you were using, and what you expected to happen instead. There is no crash reporting in the app — nothing is sent to us automatically — so a description from you is genuinely the only way we find out.
